If your Product team is anything like ours, they are most likely hungry for feedback on new and existing features! Surveys in-app are a great way to reach your users while their usage is fresh in their minds.

Some things to consider when targeting your survey are what type of users and feedback are you looking for? Someone on their first attempt, or maybe after they’ve used the feature a few times? If you’re looking for first impressions, your targeting might look something like this:

However, let’s say I’m looking for feedback from my users who are out of onboarding (let’s say past 30 days in the product), and have used my feature enough times to get an impression of how it’s fitting into their daily workflow. My targeting may look like this:

The opposite could also be true – I may want to get feedback from users who have never defined an event (the feature used in this example) and understand why they have not.

Either way - we would strongly encourage you to think about what type of feedback you’re looking for, and what users may fit that profile to appropriately target that audience. While you’re building your survey, keep in mind that shorter is better!

A quick “how useful was this feature”, and “what can we do better” goes a long way. This is also a great opportunity to surface calendar links or sign-ups for interviews with your product team for continuous discovery. Happy surveying!
