Introducing the Appcues App
An overview of campaigns, AI building, and recommendations in the Appcues App.
Table of Contents
The Appcues App helps you drive outcomes. You set the outcome you're after, and the Appcues App gives you campaigns to structure the work, Appcues AI to help build it, dashboards to measure it, and recommendations to keep it on track — all from a single interface at app.appcues.com.
The Appcues App is the new home for Appcues. The critical problems Studio solves for your success today — building, targeting, and measuring experiences — are being rebuilt here, and Studio will eventually be retired once that work is done. For now, the two run side by side: nothing has moved or been removed from Studio, your existing experiences, segments, and settings are all still there and working, and the Appcues App reads from the same data.
The Appcues App is in beta and rolling out gradually. It's being enabled for accounts in stages, so you may not see it yet. If app.appcues.com doesn't show the Appcues App for your account, it hasn't been turned on yet — it's on the way. Studio remains fully available in the meantime. Want it sooner? reach out to support@appcues.com.
What's different
The Appcues App is built around four ideas that help you drive outcomes instead of managing experiences one at a time.
Campaigns start with an outcome
Everything in the Appcues App starts with an outcome. Each campaign is built around what you're trying to achieve, and every experience inside it works toward that result.
A campaign contains tactics, and each tactic contains one or more experiences aimed at that outcome. A "Trial Activation" campaign, for example, might include a tactic for onboarding, another for reminders, and another for follow-up — all pointed at the same target.
Campaigns give you a way to think about your in-app strategy at a higher level — not just "what experience should I build?" but "what outcome am I trying to drive?"
You can browse all your campaigns from the Campaigns page in the left sidebar. Filter by tags or status, and click into any campaign to see its tactics, settings, and brief.

Appcues AI helps you build outcome-driven campaigns, faster
Appcues AI is a multi-agent system that leverages your product knowledge to help you build outcome-driven campaigns, faster. Instead of clicking through menus to configure an experience, describe what you want in plain language — and Appcues AI builds it for you.
The prompt editor at the center of the home page supports:
- Natural language prompts — describe what you want to build, analyze, or improve. For example: "Build a campaign that increases adoption of X new feature" or "Increase adoption of our new reporting feature among trial users"
- @-mentions — type @ to reference specific items, such as campaigns, experiences, and segments, and pull them into context
- File attachments — drag and drop files or click + to upload documents Appcues AI can use
Appcues AI can create campaigns, manage tactic content, generate experiences, and answer questions about your campaigns and analytics — either building what you ask for directly, or opening the builder for you to finish, depending on what you're creating.
Your conversation history is saved in the left sidebar, grouped by date, and you can rename or delete past conversations. Appcues AI also remembers context across conversations, so you can pick up where you left off.
Appcues AI isn't limited to the Home page — it's also available as a chat panel you can open from any page in the Appcues App, so you can ask for help in the context of whatever you're working on.

Dashboards keep you close to the outcome
The Dashboards page lets you build custom views of your product analytics — without leaving the Appcues App. Add cards for the metrics and funnels tied to your campaign's outcome, filter by date or audience, and see whether it's actually working.
You can build a dashboard yourself, or ask Appcues AI to build one for you.

Recommendations surface what needs attention
The Recommendations page shows insights from Appcues AI about your campaigns — proactive signals that highlight issues and opportunities you might not have noticed on your own.
Each recommendation is categorized by type (Issues or Opportunities) and priority (High, Medium, Low), and has a status (Unread, Read, Dismissed) so you can filter to what matters most. The recommendations page gives you a way to stay on top of your in-app strategy without manually reviewing every experience.
Recommendations are generated automatically — Appcues periodically analyzes your campaigns and surfaces new signals on its own. You don't need to request them. (If you'd rather not receive them, an admin can turn them off in Settings > Appcues AI.) Some recommendations also include actions the AI assistant can carry out for you, with your approval.

Navigation
The left sidebar contains five sections:
| Section | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Home | AI assistant — start conversations, ask questions, build experiences |
| Campaigns | Browse and manage campaigns and their tactics |
| Experiences | View all your experiences across types, with filters for type, tags, and status. Create saved views for your team or yourself |
| Recommendations | AI-generated insights and suggested actions for your campaigns |
| Dashboards | Analytics dashboards |
Settings is reached from the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar (click your account, then Settings). It has pages for Profile, Team, Notifications, Appcues AI, and Key Actions.
Your existing experiences
All your existing Appcues experiences appear in the Experiences section of the Appcues App, regardless of type. Nothing was migrated or moved. The Appcues App reads from the same data as Studio.
You can continue editing and managing experiences in Studio as you always have. The Appcues App gives you a new place to view and organize them — and, increasingly, to build them (see below).
For how existing experiences relate to campaigns, see Campaigns overview. To find, filter, and manage them, see Find and manage experiences in the Appcues App.
The Appcues App and Studio
The Appcues App and Studio run side by side while the Appcues App catches up to everything Studio does today. Here's what's already here, and what still opens in Studio for now:
| Task | Where to do it |
|---|---|
| Organize experiences into campaigns | Appcues App |
| Build Flows, Embeds, Launchpads, and NPS surveys | Appcues App (in-app builder) |
| Build Banners and Pins | Start in the Appcues App; opens the Chrome extension builder |
| Build Checklists | Studio |
| Build mobile experiences | Mobile builder (unchanged) |
| Ask the AI assistant to create or analyze experiences | Appcues App |
| Get AI-generated recommendations | Appcues App |
| View analytics dashboards | Appcues App |
| Manage segments, themes, and integrations | Studio |
You can switch between the two at any time. Your work is visible in both places.
Common questions
Do I have to use the Appcues App?
No. Studio continues to work exactly as it does today. The Appcues App is an additional interface — adopt it at your own pace. When you're ready, it's where you'll find AI-assisted building, campaigns organized around a desired outcome, and proactive recommendations. These capabilities live only in the Appcues App.
Will my existing experiences break?
No. The Appcues App reads your existing data. Nothing is migrated, duplicated, or changed. Experiences you've built in Studio continue to run as-is and are viewable and usable in Campaigns and Tactics within the new app,
Can I build and edit experiences in the Appcues App?
Yes, for a growing set of experience types — and that set is expanding as Studio's capabilities move over. Appcues AI can also create experiences for you directly, or open the builder for you to finish, depending on the type. Over time, building every experience type will move into the Appcues App.
Is Appcues AI always on?
You can control AI features from Settings > Appcues AI. An admin can use the "Allow automatic AI-generated insights and actions" setting to turn automatic insights and recommendations on or off for the account.
