Purpose of this Guide

The checklist below enables you to verify whether or not you have completed all of the required actions needed for a successful Appcues implementation. Related resources for each topic are provided for quick reference and a PDF version of this guide is linked at the bottom of the page as well.

Identify

• Coordinate with your Appcues Builders to outline which user properties to send to Appcues via identify()

Why? - Properties sent through identify() are associated to an individual user, and these are used for effective targeting and  segmentation in Appcues. If you do not pass properties to Appcues, your implementation is incomplete.

• Determine which account properties to send to Appcues via group() (*Note: Identify() must be called before calling group()).

Why? - Properties sent through group() are associated to an account, and individual users are then connected at the account level within Appcues. Account data can be used for targeting and segmentation. 

• Outline which end-user actions and events to track in Appcues (*Note: Your Implementation is not complete if you do not track events)

Why? - Similar to user properties, tracked events can be used for targeting, segmentation, and measuring Appcues' impact on your users.

• Why It's Important to Pass Events and Properties to Appcues
• Installation Plan - A guide for planning which user properties and events are to be included in your Appcues implementation.

Integrate

• Evaluate your tech stack and plan for which tools you'd like to connect with Appcues

Why? - Appcues data can be synced out to other tools for analysis, marketing automation, etc. and with some integrations Appcues can also receive additional user properties from those platforms to be used for targeting and segmentation.

Install

• Test and confirm your installation with Appcues Debugger

Why? - This is the best way to confirm that Appcues is installed on each page, users are being properly identified, and pages are tracking.
