Recommendations are AI-generated suggestions about your campaigns — proactive signals that surface issues to fix and opportunities to act on, so you don't have to review every experience yourself. They appear on the Recommendations page in the Appcues App.

The Appcues App is in beta and rolling out gradually. If you don't see it yet at app.appcues.com, it hasn't been enabled for your account. See Introducing the Appcues App for more.

                    Open recommendations

Click Recommendations in the left sidebar. The page header reads "Proactive signals and recommendations from your campaigns," with a count of what's waiting for you.

Recommendations are generated automatically. Appcues periodically analyzes your campaigns and adds new recommendations on its own — you don't need to request them. Each recommendation is attributed to the Insights agent that produced it.

                    Find the right recommendations

Use the filters at the top of the list:

                    • Status — All Statuses, Unread, Read, or Dismissed
                    • Type — All Types, Issues (something to fix), or Opportunities (something to gain)
                    • Priority — All Priorities, High, Medium, or Low

You can also sort the list by Date.

Each row shows the recommendation's title and the agent that generated it, with an icon marking it as an Issue or an Opportunity. Unread recommendations are bold. A row with an Action available badge means Appcues AI can carry out one or more steps for you (see below).

                    Open a recommendation

Click a recommendation to open its detail panel, which includes:

                    • What we noticed — the finding behind the recommendation
                    • Suggested action — what Appcues recommends doing
                    • Expected impact — what acting on it could achieve

Opening a recommendation marks it as read.

                    Apply AI actions

If a recommendation has actions Appcues AI can perform, they appear in the AI Actions section of the detail panel. Click Apply on an action to have Appcues AI carry it out. While it runs you'll see Applying…, then Done when it finishes.

Some actions can be reversed: a completed action may show a Smart revert option, where Appcues AI attempts to undo the change. Results may vary.

To get help planning instead of applying directly, use Plan with Appcues AI → Start chatting. This opens Appcues AI with the recommendation's details already loaded, so you can talk through how to act on it.

Recommendations can include AI-performed actions. As the panel notes, AI can make mistakes — double-check important changes.

                    Experience issue spike alerts

Appcues watches the issue rate on your live experiences and raises a recommendation when that rate spikes suddenly or stays high for several days. The issue rate is experience issues measured against the number of times the experience rendered successfully.

Selector breakage is the common cause. You publish an experience, confirm it works, and move on. Later a change to your site changes the selectors it depends on, and the experience stops reaching the audience you targeted. Without an alert, it can stay broken for weeks until someone opens the Flow analytics and notices.

Spike recommendations behave like any other. Open one to see what was noticed and the suggested action, then apply AI actions if they're available.

Set up notifications so you hear about a spike without having to check the Recommendations page. See Manage your notification preferences to send alerts to Slack or email.

Spike alerts follow the same account-wide setting as every other recommendation. If an admin turns off automatic recommendations, spike alerts stop too — see Turn recommendations on or off below.

Mark as read, dismiss, or restore

Use the … menu on any recommendation (or select several and use the Actions menu) to:

                    • Mark as read / Mark as unread
                    • Dismiss — remove it from your active list

To bring back something you dismissed, switch the Status filter to Dismissed and choose Restore.

                    Turn recommendations on or off

Automatic recommendations are controlled in Settings > Appcues AI. An admin can use the "Allow automatic AI-generated insights and actions" setting to turn them on or off for the whole account.

                    Notes and limits

                    • Recommendations are generated on a periodic schedule, not in real time — a new one may take a little while to appear after the underlying change.
                    • There's no snooze; use Dismiss (and Restore) to manage what's in your list.
                    • Priority is available as a filter and sort option.
