Mobile experiences overview
What you can build with Appcues on iOS and Android — and how to start.
Table of Contents
Appcues lets you build in-app experiences and surface them directly in your iOS and Android apps — whether built natively or with React Native, Flutter, or Ionic — no app release required. You design and publish everything from your Appcues account, and the mobile SDK renders it live to your users. This page covers what you can build on mobile and how to get your first experience live.
Appcues mobile is free to try, and setup takes only a few steps.
What you can build
- Flows — multi-step, in-app experiences built from Modals, Slideouts, and Tooltips (both floating and anchored to specific UI elements). A single Flow can guide users across multiple screens.
- Surveys — collect feedback with rating, single-select, multi-select, and text-input questions inside a Flow.
- Embeds — place content natively inside your app's own UI, inline rather than as an overlay.
- Push notifications — re-engage users outside your app, sent as part of a Workflow. See Build Push Notifications.
You can style everything to match your brand with themes, translate experiences into multiple languages, and personalize what users see based on their responses and profile.
How it works
Getting from install to a live experience follows four stages:
- Install — add the Appcues Mobile SDK to your app (native iOS/Android, React Native, Flutter, or Ionic).
- Build — create Flows, Embeds, and surveys in the mobile builder, without code.
- Target and trigger — decide who sees each experience and when, including triggering from a screen view or from within your app.
- Measure — track how your experiences perform and connect the data to your other tools.
Get started
- From Settings, open Apps & Installation and add a mobile app to your account.
- Install the Appcues Mobile SDK in your app. See Installing the Mobile SDK for platform-specific steps.
- Open the Flows section and click Create a Flow. The mobile builder opens, where you can start designing.
- Preview your Flow on a device, then target and publish it.
